The Sharks are the top ladies ice hockey team in Scotland, playing out of Dumfries ice bowl and competing in the Northern League alongside Blackburn, Grimsby, Sheffield and Telford, playing 16 league matches over the course of the season, as well as competing in tournaments, cup competitions and, hopefully, the end of season play-offs. The team attracts the top players from Scotland, supplemented by a number of English and European players.
Katie signed for the team this season following two successful years at Lanarkshire Lightning. She also trained on loan with the Sharks last year, despite being too young to play for the team, however as she has turned 15 this year she is now able to play for the team, who were keen to secure her signature, and is looking forward to her first game away to Blackburn on 1st September. Katie also plays and trains with Braehead Junior Ice hockey club on a non-competitive level.
She also has extensive experience of international level ice hockey and is currently part of the Scotland programme and has won 10 caps for Scotland, competing in events at home and abroad where she has lined against top level European competition.
In addition to this, she has recently been invited to try out for Team GB (which is the highest level of hockey in the UK), with her first session taking place later this month, which she is incredibly excited about.
